Bovey Tracey Primary School

Welcome to Brimley Class!

Brimley - Mrs Brown teaches in Brimley full time

We had a lovely time learning about and making Christingles this morning. A big thank you to Rev Graham Hamilton and Rosie Stephens from the church for coming in to help us.

Brimley would like to wish you all a happy Christmas!

Brimley and Indio Year Ones have finished their Diva lamps. We sang a song about Diwali and reflected on all we had learned about this Hindu Festival of Light.

The Year Ones have been busy making our willow lanterns. It took great resilience and team work! Then it was really exciting to test them out in the dusk on the field. Thank you to all who came back this evening.

More Arts Weeks news! After making the lovely animals and necklaces and mobile decorations from recycled materials on Tuesday, we have worked on flowers inspired by Kandinsky's colour circles for the Bovey Flower Show. Then today we made clay pots!

Arts Week Day 1: Felt making- we all had an amazing time making felt from fleece. We loved the feel of the wool with soapy water, and chose some beautiful colour mixes for our felt leaves.

Year 1s in Brimley visited the Craft Fair today and had a wonderful time creating all sorts of wonderful things - take a look!

Where are the continents on Planet Earth? What do we call them? What are our different oceans called? We had great fun learning world geography by playing 'twister' on a world map!

Have you noticed our wonderful wooden faces on the fence in the playground? We are very proud of them!

The Year Ones had a great morning on Wednesday with Andy Bailey from Yarner Wood (Dartmoor National Park) making flags for the festival at Yarner Wood at the end of May.

We have had a fantastic term here in Brimley. We visited the Cathedral, the house that moved and the Tudor house to learn all about our topic of Exeter. We sketched like Lowry using charcoals and we built our own Tudor houses from ceral boxes. We learned how to make bread and to sing ‘Singing I’m the Rain’ for our class Assembly and baked carrot cupcakes and marshmallow rice crisp or cakes for out Easter Cafe. It has been a busy and wonderful term. I wish Brimley class all the happiness in the world with their next teacher. Thank you to all the teachers and parents for being so lovely and supportive.
