Bovey Tracey Primary School

Welcome to Kennick Class!

Kennick - Mrs Russell and Mrs Thomas teach in Kennick for 2 and a half days each a week

Today we learnt about Christingles ; we sang Away in a Manger and understood why Christians celebrate Christmas. We found out about the symbols that the different parts a Christingle represents and made our own. We even lit them and listened to a special prayer.

Kennick would like to wish you a happy Christmas!

As part of our RE work we have been finding out how Hindu people celebrate Diwali and created our own Diva lamps and celebrated with songs

The children made clay Diva pots a few weeks ago but decorated them today. They used a base coat then did finer detail using another colour and made sure it was a Rangoli style pattern that they practised on paper earlier in the week. They look amazing and very colourful!!

Willow Lantern Making

The children used willow, sticky tape and tissue paper to make lanterns in small groups. They worked together as a team to carefully make the square base shape, then add upright sticks. Finally adding tissue paper and lots of glue!!! It was a messy but fun time!

The year ones had a a great morning on Wednesday with Andy Bailey from Yarner Wood (Dartmoor National Park) making flags for the festival at Yarner Wood at the end of May.

As part of our 'Under The Sea' topic launch, children discovered plastic inside a fish.
