Who are the governors?

Sarah Baker

Hi I am a parent governor. I live in Bovey Tracey with my husband Mark and our gorgeous daughters Martha (9) and Chloe (8).  I work part-time for the National Trust. My role is managing visitor welcome, projects, marketing and communications along the South Devon coast and countryside.

Whilst my two have been at school I helped secure funds from local businesses, trusts and the National Lottery to build the current Adventure Play area, artists coming in to run workshops for the children, and the creation of the nature space area on the school field. I have also been heavily involved in running the nature school programme at Parke for Year 1 & 2.

You can probably tell but I’m particularly passionate about nature and the outdoors, the arts and literacy. I’m incredibly proud of the school and the staff and our children. I'm the Curriculum Lead Governor.

Ali Bright

I am a father of two children, including a son in year 6 and a daughter who left Bovey Tracey Primary School in 2018 having been at the school since reception.  We live in Bovey Tracey and I work for the Dartmoor National Park Authority where I am responsible for ICT Services and also managing the Authority’s premises including offices and visitor centres.  My lead responsibility on the Governing Board is for Premises, Security and Health & Safety which are all areas I am very familiar with through my day job.  Prior to working for the National Park Authority I worked in adult education and at a number of secondary schools in Devon.  In my spare time I enjoy road cycling and walking on Dartmoor.  Both of my children have thrived at Bovey Tracey Primary School and I am delighted to be able to support the staff and wider school community and give something back in any way I can.

Bryony Burcher-Lewis

I am a mum of two children, one of whom is still at Bovey Tracey Primary School. The kids love the school, and I am so pleased to be able to give something back.

I am quite a hands-on action focused person and so very happy to roll my sleeves up and get involved, from building the website to installing sinks in the playgrounds. Professionally I have spent much of my career in product development and overseas product sourcing which has seen me manage corporate budgets in the millions and drive commercial opportunities internationally. I have had the privilege of travelling for work and think exploring the world is a wonderful thing.

Suzannah Caudle

I am a mum of two children at Bovey Tracey Primary School.  I have 15 years experience working and volunteering with deprived children and young people in voluntary and statutory services.  I have a particular interest in mental and emotional wellbeing as well as multi-agency working to achieve the best outcomes for children and their families.

Before settling in Devon, I have lived in various cities around the country and abroad for two years, which was an enriching experience for many reasons.  In my free time I enjoy getting out in the countryside with my family in our campervan!

I feel privileged to be part of an inclusive, child-centred, skilled and inspiring school community.

Rebecca Cosgrave, Co-chair

I live in Bovey with my husband Mike (also guitar teacher at the school) and two teenage boys. It has been my privilege to be a governor at Bovey Tracey Primary for several years. My boys left the school 7 and 4 years ago: I don’t seem to be able to leave myself! This is because the school is such a warm and inclusive place to be associated with and I thoroughly enjoy being part of the community of the school.

I am an education adviser working for Babcock LDP supporting primary schools with English. Being involved in education professionally enables me to offer relevant support and guidance to the governing board. In my spare time I enjoy getting out in the beautiful countryside of Bovey Tracey; either walking or running.

Amber MacDonald, Co-chair

I am a mum of two children, one of whom is still at Bovey Tracey Primary School. I used to be

a primary school teacher, mainly working in key stage 2. Prior to teaching, I

volunteered extensively with Greenpeace: on ships, in the London office and around

the world (including much of Europe, Turkey and Brazil). I still have a keen interest

in environmental matters and love how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful rural

location.  I am proud to be part of such a caring, inclusive and aspirational school community and love working with all stakeholders, to ensure we get the best outcomes for our pupils and families.

Karen Venn-Dunn

I have 2 children at Bovey Tracey school and I am reassured to know that they attend a school with an inclusive, compassionate and aspirational ethos.

I have over 20 years’ experience of working in large organisations in the private sector and have delivered various roles including audit, commercial management and procurement.

I have travelled and lived all over the country as part of my career in the past but I am so happy to have settled in Bovey and love living here.  It’s a joy to be so close to the moor and the sea and in my spare time I love to walk, cycle and swim in our surroundings

Amy Yeo

I am a parent governor. I live in Bovey Tracey with my husband and our two daughters. Our oldest daughter started at Bovey Tracey Primary School in September 2020. We are excited to begin our journey as part of a school community which offers so many opportunities for their pupils. I feel privileged to be able to contribute to the future development of the school and uphold its vision and values.

I have eleven years' experience working in primary schools and currently hold the position of Early Years Leader of a preschool and reception class in the South Hams. At the weekends I enjoy swimming, walking and sewing projects as well as exploring Dartmoor and the seaside with my family.
